Karen was born in Dublin in 1960 and was educated in Mount Temple. Married with two children, she lives and work in Skerries, Co. Dublin. Mainly self-taught , she has painted all her life; the catalyst being the gift of oil paints from her sister at an early age. In fact she has an oil painting that was painted when she was twelve years old. Gradually her self-taught talents developed to the point where, encouraged by artistic friends and gallery owners she felt able to show my work.

Karen’s paintings predominantly concern still life, landscape or interiors. In some works there is more emphasis on the application of paint or accents of colour as she occasionally like to play with the abstracted forms. Working much with a palette knife, her paintings are characterised by vigorous slashes of colour, with highlights of heavy impasto on areas where pigment is otherwise barely staining the canvas. As well as her personal work, she has taken on various commissions including a large body of work for the Hotel Isaacs, in Dublin and Cork. Her paintings can also be seen in the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny, Sheraton Hotel in Athlone and Lismore House Hotel in Lismore, Co. Waterford.

With numerous solo shows in Skerries Mills, and Gallery Zozimus Dublin, she also been exhibiting annually at the RDS Art Fair since 2008. She also has been exhibiting at the Art Fairs in the UK annually including the Glasgow, Edinburgh, Devon and Cambridge Art Fairs.

Galleries currently showing Karen’s work include The Gallery Kinsale, Kenny’s Gallery Lahinch, Cawley Cooper Fine Art Derry, and The Doorway Gallery Dublin.

Private collectors include, Actor - Brendan Gleeson, Designer - Laney Keogh, Actor - Aongus Og McAnally. Irish rugby Cap. - Niall Hogan, TV and radio presenter - Matt Cooper.
