Louise Kennedy is one of Ireland's most successful fashion designers. Since establishing her eponymous label in 1983, Louise has earned an international reputation for creating clothes that are appreciated for their sophistication and quality of design.
Her very first collection was bought by Ireland's flagship luxury department store, Brown Thomas, who continues to stock the brand 30 years later. Mrs. Mary Robinson the first Irish female President commissioned Louise to design her inauguration outfit in 1990 and continued to dress the president throughout her term in office.
In the mid 90's, Louise joined the British Fashion Council where she showed biannually during fashion week. In 1997 Louise was chosen to design the uniforms for Aer Lingus, Ireland's national airline, which to this day are still worn by their male and female staff. In 1999, Louise was commissioned to design a contemporary crystal collection. This went on to become the fastest growing brand of designed crystal in the international marketplace with an ever-increasing following in the UK and US markets in particular. In 2000, Louise Kennedy opened her UK flagship store in Knightsbridge, London.
Louise has been the recipient of many prestigious awards including Irish Designer of the Year on four separate occasions. In 2004 she was awarded the Veuve Cliquot Business Woman of the Year award, and in early 2009 Louise became the first female style envoy for Mercedes Benz.
In late 2009, Louise was commissioned by the Chief Justice to design the first National judicial robes for the Irish Supreme Court. These were officially launched in October 2012 which marked a historic shift in the judicial court attire in Ireland.
In 2011, Louise launched the Louise Kennedy Bridal Room which houses a bespoke bridal collection exclusively stocked at our headquarters in Merrion Square. It is at No 56 Merrion Square that the full Louise Kennedy collection can be visited.
