Marty Kelly was born in 1979 in Carndonagh, County Donegal. He studied painting at Ulster University, Belfast and paints in Ireland and Barcelona. His work looks at the human condition in both serious and playful manners, within themes as diverse as war, social parody and contemporary dance.
Kelly’s paintings from the last decade were recently documented in a comprehensive catalogue published by BlueLeaf Gallery that includes texts by six international authors addressing his work during this period. His work has been exhibited internationally in Miami, Chicago, Toronto, London, Barcelona, and throughout Ireland. His work is held in collections of Department of Environment, N.Ireland; Irish Contemporary Arts Society, Dublin, Bank of Ireland and Mandate Trade Union, and in numerous private collections worldwide. He has been featured in 'Who’s who in Art 33rd edition' and 'Buyers Guide to Irish Art 2008'.
He is currently working on a show for exhibition in New York 2014.
