Ruthie Ashenhurst was born in Dublin, Ruthie studied at the College of Art and Design, Bristol, England specialising in acrylics, pastels and etching.

Ashenhurst’s main aim is to create an impression of person or place. Figures are hazy, deconstructed, allowing the viewer to evoke their own memories. As well as figurative subjects, Ruthie’s art reflects the many changing phases of the sea, landscape and nature in a mixture of abstract style and realism, with an emphasis on colour and atmosphere.

The artist splits her time between Dublin and her studio in West Cork where she draws her inspiration from the rugged and unspoilt Beara Peninsula where the hills and mountains are often shrouded in a misty veil often featured in her landscapes.

In Ireland Ruthie is represented in Galleries from Donegal to Cork.
